It would surprise many people that good local wine can be bought on Dartmoor, even more surprising is the fact that it is grown and produced on the boarders of the Dartmoor National Park, and what is more, not one, but two vineyards both producing award winning wines.
Eastcott at Northlew (where it is said that the devil died of the cold) near the lovely old town of Okehampton, which has been in production for the longest, does not now offer tours, but you can go on line or visit to buy some of their delicious wine and they are to be found at many of our local and county shows and food fairs.
Alder Farm at Lewdown and a bit nearer to us at Tor Royal has been growing grapes since 2008 and is a family run business (which started out as a dairy farm and diversified into Alder sportswear) You can visit Alder and join in one of their vineyard tours and tastings which you can book from their website https://aldervineyard.uk/tours
